Ends Thursday, 9/28 - The latest movie from Edgar Wright (SHAUN OF THE DEAD, HOT FUZZ) is a jams-packed car chase extravaganza that will have you on the edge of your seat when you’re not grooving in it. Baby (Ansel Elgort, THE FAULT IN OUR STARS) is a getaway driver, the best in the biz. Suffering from tinnitus he keeps his earbuds in and his music cranked up to drown out the ringing, and as he engages in high speed pursuits and escapes the beat and his driving become one seamless motion. When Baby falls in love with a beautiful waitress (Lily James, CINDERELLA) he decides he wants out, but the crook for whom he works (Kevin Spacey, HOUSE OF CARDS) isn’t about to let Baby get away from this one. The plot of BABY DRIVER is straightforward, but that’s the only straightforward thing in the whole movie. Edgar Wright, who has always been a brilliant visual stylist, shows off his genius in the almost experimental melding of car chases and musicals, with his editing and shot composition being handled almost like a musical instrument itself. Fun, fast and filled with stars (Jon Hamm, Jamie Foxx and Jon Bernthal round out the heist crew that Baby drives), BABY DRIVER gives you the same thrill, the same rush, the same deep sense of happiness, life and excitement, that you get driving down an empty highway a little too fast and playing your favorite songs a little too loud.
